Confused about buckles?  Here's some straightforward explanations:

"Pre-V": a curved Panerai style buckle.

"GPF": a flat Panerai style buckle.

"Thumbnail": a simple curved buckle found on both Panerai and non-Panerai watches.  Also referred to as "ardillon".
